We got the month rolling by Amber and Chris getting gussied up for a Daddy Daughter Dance at our friends church. Ironically, Jared was hired as the dance caller.
Next Jared found some kindred souls - a group that meets once a month to play Memoir '44. So thankful it turned out to be a great group of guys, he'll be attending regularly from now on and hopefully going with them to competitions; which he didn't know was a thing till now.
While we were on vacation, Thor too went on vacation, while there Gianna figured out some of his quirks and features issues: 1) He needed a new bit 2) He needed a different saddle pad (Amber and her played Arts & Crafts one day cutting up an old yoga mat to create just the right padding) 3) He needed a new farrier and shoes. Wow! What a difference! He got the new shoes on front and suddenly his back legs were under him where they should be because it lifted his whole chest. Hopefully this will be the end of his random hip discomfort.
Amber attended the AHG Year End celebration in support of her friend Kimberly and now a bunch of the girls want her to join in the fall :-)
While we were on vacation in HH, Jared went nuts when we were on the beach and "FiFi" flew overhead. "FiFi" is one of only two flying B-29 Superfortresses. After a quick search we found out it was being displayed and flown out of Savanah. There was talk of driving over to see it but then Jared realized it would be just an hour from our house the next week. So the next week, right after work, he drove over to see Air Power Tour to tour "FiFi". He arrived an hour before closing and it turned out to be perfect. He was part of small group touring so they got to see a lot and ask a lot of questions. He picked up two T-shirts for fun and support the Commemorative Air Force.
Jared called the "Starlight Ball" this month and everyone else enjoyed attending. Jared is pretty much the official caller of all the dances now and he doesn't mind a bit, which is great since everyone prefers him over the other callers. Amber and Kimberly made their own capes for the ball with the help of Mrs. Johnson. They had a blast making them (took a full day) and wearing them.
Lance's train focus has returned and he went to a Train Show at the fairgrounds this month to stock up on things he wanted for the new-and-improved train room he's designing.
It was a busy month but the most important part of every May is to celebrate Jared's Birthday! In addition to Jared controlling our entertainment choices for the week, conveniently Star Wars: Mandalorian and Grogu came out in the theater as a special treat.
On his actual birthday he requested a trip to Greensboro. First stop was the Science Center/Zoo, which has been a family favorite for years. As it was May, the Butterfly Encounter was open, that was the highlight of the day. Next stop was the new BAM store to peruse their wares.
My precious baby boy! So proud of the young man he is: kind, responsible, always my thespian and creative entrepreneur. He has so many pots in the oven can't wait to see how all the "dishes" turn out.
